The table shows the United States Mint’s 2006 Silver Eagle bullion coin sales amounts.
During 2006, the US Mint sold 10,021,000 ounces of silver through its bullion coin program. This was the second time sales exceeded the 10 million mark. The increased interest came amidst a sharp upswing in the price of silver. The estimated silver bullion value of the Silver Eagle coins sold by the US Mint for the year was $116,425,840. This figure was calculated using the average monthly price of silver and the bullion coins sales numbers for each month. This was the first time the value of the US Mint’s annual silver bullion sales exceeded $100 million.
The sales numbers which appear below may include coins minted in multiple years. The US Mint also produced and sold proof coins for collectors. Only bullion coin sales are included below.
