During 2003, the United States Mint sold 9,153,500 ounces of silver through its bullion program. This number represents a decline from the prior year, but it is still high on historical basis. The silver bullion value of the Silver Eagle coins sold by the US Mint for the year was approximately $45,495,680. This amount was calculated using the average monthly price of silver and the bullion coins sales numbers for each month.
The sales numbers which appear below may include coins minted in multiple years. The US Mint also produced and sold proof coins for collectors. Only bullion coin sales are included below.
