In 2002 the United States Mint sold 10,475,500 ounces of silver through its bullion program. Notably, this was the first time the annual sales total exceeded 10 million. It also marked the new sales high that would remain in place until 2008. The silver bullion value of the Silver Eagle coins sold by the US Mint for the year was approximately $48,267,945. This amount was calculated using the average monthly price of silver and the bullion coins sales numbers for each month.
The sales numbers which appear below may include coins minted in multiple years. The US Mint also produced and sold proof coins for collectors. Only bullion coin sales are included below.
