2008 American Silver Eagle Sales

The table shows the United States Mint’s 2008 Silver Eagle bullion coin sales amounts.

During 2008, the US Mint sold 19,583,500 ounces of silver through its bullion coin program. This shattered the old sales record amidst explosive demand for precious metals. This amount also came amidst a one month sales suspension and ongoing allocation program. The estimated silver bullion value of the Silver Eagle coins sold by the US Mint for the year was $286,451,715. This figure was calculated using the average monthly price of silver and the bullion coins sales numbers for each month.

The sales numbers which appear below may include coins minted in multiple years. The US Mint also produced and sold proof coins for collectors. Only bullion coin sales are included below.
